If the cuboid bone becomes dislocated, the inflammation that develops will cause a condition that is known as cuboid syndrome. Bunions can be quite painful as weight is put on a portion of the foot to compensate for the protrusion on the side of the big toe. Rheumatoid arthritis will typically affect joints in the ankle and can cause extreme pain.
